Community Update for September 24

Dear ISA Families,

The LEE campus PTSA held a successful Back-to-school Night on Tuesday, and we enjoyed seeing families on campus for the event! Our PTSA works hard to support students and teachers from LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM and we appreciate everything they do! If you didn’t have an opportunity to join our PTSA click HERE, and for families unable to attend Tuesday’s general meeting, HERE is a newsletter!

ISA is back on a normal schedule this week for PSAT/SAT preparation sessions in Reading and Math. Here is the schedule:

  • Reading (Mondays 4:20 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.) in room S-102

  • Math (Wednesdays 4:20 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.) in room S-103

We have three more weeks for these opportunities! Sessions will focus on skills and items students can expect to see on the PSAT and SAT, and we encourage 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to attend. Ninth grade students will be accommodated if space is available and everyone is encouraged to join the Google Classroom for practice resources. Click HERE for the Google Classroom join code!

We would like to share the important reminder that school will be released at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, for the second early release day of the school year!

This is the week! The Annual 9th Grade Community Garage Sale will be Saturday, September 30th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm., and directly benefits our 9th grade travel experience to Houston, Texas!

We still need your help!

  • VOLUNTEER: We need volunteers to receive donations after school from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 and to set up, work, and clean up on the day of the sale 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Students will earn service hours! SIGN UP HERE or paste this URL into your browser: https://rb.gy/0jg2h.

  • DONATE ITEMS: If your family has items you would like to donate to the garage sale, now is also a great time to begin to gather these items! Household items and appliances; tools; toys; garden items and equipment, furniture, and gently used shoes have been popular in the past. New this year: DONATIONS OF CLOTHING AND BOOKS ARE ENCOURAGED! Goodwill will pay us for every bin of clothing and books we can fill! However, please refrain from donations of outdated technology. ALL ITEMS NEED TO BE DROPPED OFF FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 FROM 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

  • BIG ITEM PICKUP: We have a few trucks to pick up large donation items on Friday, September 29. Sign-up above!

Looking ahead, the ISA 9th Grade Enrollment Lottery Application opens on Sunday, October 1, 2023! As we prepare to welcome the ISA Class of 2028, we are looking for students who are interested in helping share their experience at ISA with prospective families. Students interested in sharing their experience can sign up to be an ISA Ambassador HERE*! We will be building teams of students interested in participating in our Magnet Monday events scheduled for Monday, October 2, 2023, at Tex Hill MS from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and our first ISA Shadowing Day on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

*Check the form for Shadowing and Magnet Night Dates!

Week two of Homecoming ticket sales commences on Monday, September 25, 2023! On Saturday, October 7, 2023, join us for At Last We Meet from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Littleton Gymnasium! This week, tickets cost $20 through September 29th. Beginning October 2 and through October 6, ticket prices rise to $25 and NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR! If an ISA student would like to invite a non-LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM guest, there are guest approval forms available in the ISA Main Office. This outside guest form must be submitted and approved before tickets can be purchased!

We want to encourage families to mark Thursday, October 19, 2023, on their calendars and save the date! On October 19, grade level teams will host their next travel information meetings, and we will host our annual MUNSA Pancake Supper in the LEE HS cafeteria! This event will also be the next opportunity to purchase ISA Spirit items.  Follow this weekly update for more details about meeting locations and supper ticket sales soon!

Finally, Friday, September 22, 2023, marked the end of the 6th week of the 1st grading period. Student progress reports will be available in Skyward by the end of the week! Friday was also the first eligibility check for student UIL participants! Students who may be eligible for a UIL waiver can request one from the ISA Main Office.  Waivers should be completed and submitted to Mr. Magadance by Friday, September 29, 2023.  Please contact Mr. Magadance at smagad@neisd.net with questions!

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
