Community Update for September 25

Dear ISA Families,

The LEE campus PTSA held a successful Back-to-school Night last week, and we enjoyed seeing families on campus for the event! The PTSA is pleased to share that they met their fundraising goal and wants to thank everyone who contributed. For families unable to attend the general meeting at the beginning of the evening, HERE is a document that shares the information covered.

At Back-to-school Night last week, many families picked up information about the Global Navigator international exchange program offered by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). This year, CIEE has earmarked $25,000 in need-based and academic support for ISA applicants, and this is a great way for ISA students to explore their world during a summer exchange program.

On Monday and Wednesday this week and through October 5, 2022, ISA will offer in-person PSAT and SAT tutoring sessions. English/Language Arts sessions will be held in ISA Room (S-102) and Math sessions will be held in ISA Room 115. All sessions will begin at 4:30 p.m. ISA students who are unable to attend can still access resources and practice material in the Google Classroom using join code: UY7APV2. These sessions will prepare juniors for the school day administration of the PSAT/NMSQT on October 12, 2022, and eligible seniors for the school day administration of the SAT on October 27, 2022. Additional tutoring dates are listed below:

  • English/Lang Arts - Rm S102,  Mondays: Oct. 3
  • Math - Rm 115 Wednesdays: Oct. 5

For more information please contact our Deans by email at kyoung@neisd.net or cpolk@neisd.net.

We would like to share the important reminder that school will be released at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, for the second early release day of the school year!

On Wednesday, September 28, we celebrate the 13th annual LEE-esta! This neighborhood parade and pep rally is a fantastic way to celebrate the LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM community. The parade route starts and ends in the band parking lot and campus clubs and organizations will host booths with food and activities. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by a whole community pep rally. Come celebrate with us on Wednesday!

During all three lunches on Wednesday, Jostens will return to campus to receive Class Ring orders from ISA juniors.

On Saturday, October 1, 2022, the ISA 9th grade class will host their annual ISA Garage Sale Fundraiser. In cooperation with the ISA Amigos, this community fundraiser will support this year’s 9th grade travel experience to Houston in November. If you are interested in supporting the garage sale, please click HERE or paste this URL in the browser of your choice: shorturl.at/ehMS5 to access the Sign-up Genius.

We look forward to the donations ISA families have gathered for the garage sale! Donations can be dropped off at the main entrance to LEE High School on Friday, September 30, between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please help us get a sense of what our community might be donating, and how we can help ensure a positive donation experience by completing THIS quick Google Form! Household items and appliances; tools; toys; garden items and equipment, furniture, and gently used shoes have been popular in the past. However, please refrain from donations of clothing and non-flat screen televisions. While book donations are also not popular items, we will accept book donations that will go to support the annual NEISD PTSA used books sale! For more information, please contact ISA 9th grade parent, Carrie Jowers, at carrie.jowers@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing donations on Friday and having an amazing day on Saturday!

Looking ahead, the ISA 9th Grade Enrollment Application opens on Saturday, October 1, 2022! As we prepare to welcome the ISA Class of 2027 soon, we are looking for students who are interested in helping share their experience at ISA with prospective families. Students interested in sharing their experience can complete THIS form! We are looking for teams of students interested in participating in our Magnet Monday event scheduled for Monday, October 3, 2022, at Tex Hill MS from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and our first ISA Shadowing Day on Friday, October 7, 2022.

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, the LEE Campus Student Council will present the LEE/ISA/STEM/NESA Homecoming Dance “Under the Neon Lights” from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Littleton Gymnasium. Tickets for the dance will be available for $20 during all lunches beginning on October 3, 2022. ISA students who want to bring an off-campus guest, will need to pick up a clearance form in the ISA main office. All forms must be submitted to the ISA main office by Friday, October 14, 2022 for approval. Students will not be able to purchase a ticket for an off-campus guest until the request is approved by ISA Administration, and tickets will not be sold at the door. For more information please contact Student Council Sponsor Lucinda Castro at lcastr@neisd.net

We want to encourage families to mark Thursday, October 27, 2022, on their calendars and save the date! On October 27, grade level teams will host their next travel information meetings, and we will host our annual MUNSA Pancake Supper in the LEE HS cafeteria! This event will also be the next opportunity to purchase ISA Spirit items.  Follow this weekly update for more details about meeting locations and supper ticket sales soon!

Finally, we want to thank our students and families for discussing safety on our campus! Students have done an excellent job maintaining a secure building by not propping doors open around campus and not opening the doors to unfamiliar individuals who are waiting at exterior doorways. As we continue to work together in this way, we will help keep our campus safe!

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
