Community Update for September 11

Dear ISA Families,

Today marks the 21st memorial of September 11, 2001. For many of us who remember the day there are significant, strong emotions including confusion, sadness, grief, and anger. September 11th serves as a reminder of the ways we are connected as humans by illuminating the impact of moments like these that ripple through our global community. September 11th also illuminates the responsibilities we bear as members of an evermore connected global community to care for each other. By caring for our community, we ensure a better world for ALL of us. Living in a school climate that increasingly focuses on campus safety, caring for our community can include simple actions like reporting unusual activity to campus administration, avoiding propping external doors, and not opening doors to unfamiliar adults. We encourage ISA families to continue to talk with your students about these simple actions that can help keep our school safe.

The Community Eligibility Provision is an important community survey that helps ensure that ALL students on the LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM campus are provided with free breakfast and lunch options at school. While not all families participate in the access to breakfast and lunch service on campus, a response to the survey is required from all ISA families. At the end of the business day on Monday, September 12, a text notification will be sent to all Primary contacts listed in Skyward: Family Access in the ISA Community. This notification will only be sent to families who have not yet responded to the survey. Thank you to all of our families who have already responded to this important survey, and thank you to families who will respond this week!

NEISD has received many inquiries about access to Online Forms offered through Skyward. After receiving these inquiries and reviewing response rates, NEISD Management Information Services has decided to extend the window for filling out the forms by one week. Parents/Guardians who have outstanding form(s) will receive an email to inform them of the extension. The new deadline for the Welcome Back packet is Sunday, September 18, 2022, and will the forms listed below:

On Thursday, September 15, 2022, the Allied Campus Theater (ACT) is proud to present their first show of the year, She Kills Monsters in the PAC at 7:00 p.m.! Fans of D&D, 90’s Pop Culture, fog machines, and epic dance battles will enjoy this production. ACT is also a great way to see students from across the LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM campus create art together! Can’t make the Thursday show? That’s okay, there are 7:00 p.m. shows on Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17, and there is also a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Saturday, September 17! Tickets for the show can be purchased online HERE or by pasting this URL into the browser of your choice:

Looking ahead, the LEE Campus PTSA invites the LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM community to its annual PTSA Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. This annual celebration provides families with an opportunity to get updates from LEE Campus PTSA and follow your student’s schedule to meet teachers. Families will follow THIS bell schedule during the evening after the night kicks off with a PTSA General Meeting in the PAC at 6:00 p.m.

On the same evening, look for a table with information about the Global Navigator international exchange program offered by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). Representatives from CIEE will be on-campus to share information about summer exchange opportunities for ISA students and how to begin an application! This year, CIEE has earmarked $25,000 in need-based and academic support for ISA applicants! Stop by the table on September 20 to learn more!

On Saturday, October 1, 2022, the ISA 9th grade class will host their annual ISA Garage Sale Fundraiser. In cooperation with the ISA Amigos, we encourage the ISA Community to SAVE THE DATE! We will also invite and coordinate volunteers to receive donations after school on Friday, September 30, 2022. 100% of proceeds from this fundraiser support the 9th grade class in their travel experience to Houston in November! Look for a Sign-up Genius in next week’s update if you are interested in supporting this fundraising event! Now is also a great time to begin to gather possible donations to this year’s garage sale. Household items and appliances; tools; toys; garden items and equipment, furniture, and gently used shoes have been popular in the past. However, please refrain from donations of clothing and non-flat screen televisions. While book donations are also not popular items, we will accept book donations that will go to support the annual NEISD PTSA used books sale! For more information, please contact ISA 9th grade parent, Carrie Jowers, at

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, the LEE Campus Student Council will present the LEE/ISA/STEM/NESA Homecoming Dance “Under the Neon Lights” from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Littleton Gymnasium. Tickets for the dance will be available for $20 during all lunches beginning on October 3, 2022. For more information please contact Student Council Sponsor Lucinda Castro at

Finally, we remind our students who participate in UIL extracurricular activities that the UIL eligibility deadline for the first six weeks is Friday, September 16, at 4:30 p.m. Students must be passing their classes at 4:30 p.m. to maintain eligibility for participation. Students who may be eligible for a UIL waiver can request one from the ISA Main Office beginning on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Have a great week!
