Community Update for August 14

Dear ISA Families,

It was amazing to see everyone who attended ISA’s Hot Diggity Doo Dah celebration yesterday! Even though school has already started, the familiar sounds of excited students, and the smell of the grill in the courtyard reminds us what a special community ISA is! We are also reminded that this community is special because of the ways everyone steps up and jumps in to help! HUGE thank yous go out to the ISA faculty, staff, and Trinity MAT teaching interns who worked hard to reconnect with families during grade level meetings and conversations in the courtyard. Another HUGE thank you to the ISA Amigos who stepped in to prepare the potluck meal enjoyed by all and to every family who was able to donate to the potluck! Hot Diggity Doo Dah dates back to ISA’s beginnings and kicks off the 2022-2023 school year in familiar ways.

Families who were not able to attend Hot Diggity can view presentations shared at each grade level meeting below:

Yesterday, some teams discussed chaperoning opportunities for ISA’s grade level travel experiences.  Any adults interested in traveling or volunteering to support ISA must complete NEISD’s online Volunteer Criminal History Check Form before volunteering or traveling with ISA.

Special ISA events like Hot Diggity Doo Dah are not possible without the support from the ISA Amigos! The ISA Amigos is our school’s booster organization with the sole mission of supporting enriching learning experiences for ISA students including grade-level travel, local field trips, and teacher support! When ISA travels with students each year, our goal is to remove any financial barriers for student travel. To ensure this goal, the ISA Amigos organize fundraising initiatives and accept tax deductible donations. ISA families can support the mission of the ISA Amigos by contributing to the annual appeal on the ISA Amigos Square Site or at this URL: Families can learn more about the annual appeal HERE. In addition to this weekly update, the ISA Amigos hosts another great source of information on the parent Facebook groups. You can find class specific links below:

Tomorrow we begin the first full week of the 2022-2023 academic year! Students and families are reminded that there are several new pick-up and drop-off procedures on campus detailed in last week’s update. Additionally, we want to share shuttle bus schedules for students traveling from NEISD High School as well as students who travel to CTEC and iCSI during the school day:

We also remind families that again this year, ISA is a CEP eligibility campus. This means that all students are eligible to receive free breakfast at lunch at school daily.

As we adjust to the return to school, this is a great time to ensure that ISA families remain connected to the campus, and we encourage families to login to Skyward: Family Access to update contact phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contact information for individuals who may have contact with your students! With new safety and security procedures in place this year, we also want to invite families to plan ahead when you know you will be picking your student up for appointments. One way we hope to help make the process easier is by completing the ISA student SIGN OUT FORM. This form will notify the ISA Main Office, and allow us to prepare for your student’s departure needs.

Each of the last several years, ISA has provided a Welcome Back Packet to Families. This digital packet will be sent once again this year! NEISD’s Management Information Services will email the primary guardian of each ISA student with a link to the Digital Welcome Back Packet. The packet will be available in Skyward: Family Access for two (2) weeks to complete the packet.

Below is the list of forms that will be available in the digital packet:

  • Student Registration Update

  • Student/Parent Handbook Notice and Acknowledgement

  • Family Survey

  • Communications Student Media Release

  • NEEF

  • Military Connected

  • Title IX

Looking ahead, on August 26, 2022, the LEE High School football program will open their 2022-2023 season. As the team prepares for the season, they have also committed to participate in the Peanut Butter Bowl. ISA would like to invite our community to participate by donating jars of peanut butter or by making an online donation at the link in the previous sentence. Donations can be made or received in the ISA Main Office beginning on Monday, August 22, 2022!

The first early release day of the school year is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, 2022. We remind families that school will be released at 2:00 p.m. on August 30.

On Wednesday, August 31, Lifetouch will be on campus to take pictures for all four grade levels. Families will be able to order photos for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders using the school code: EVTR3XMJX

Finally, we had a great first three days of school this week, and we look forward to seeing students back in the hallways again on Monday for another great week!
