Community Update for January 26

Dear ISA Families,

This weekend completed the run of this year’s Allied Campus Theater (ACT) musical production Matilda! ACT represents one of the best parts of this community as students from LEE, ISA, NESA, and STEM collaborated to present an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic tale about extraordinary abilities, overcoming adversity, and community. From the set build, to the intermission advertisement, Matilda left the audience a little teary-eyed and smiling. Thank you to the cast, crew, and the directors from ACT for a wonderful performance!

One week from tomorrow, the ISA senior class departs for Washington, D.C.! As our students continue to finalize their plans for their trip, the ISA Administration will be accepting any overnight medication that students may need during the D.C. travel experience. Below are a few reminders:

  • All medications should be turned in to the ISA Main Office this week beginning tomorrow, January 27 - through Friday, January 31 during business hours OR on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.*

  • Special requests requiring doctor’s orders--including self-carry orders--for items should be on file with the campus nurse as soon as possible!

  • Only items such as inhalers, epipens, diabetes equipment, and hormones may be approved for self-carry.

  • NEISD employee chaperones will administer medications, and families should submit all medication in the original package containing only the amount necessary for the duration of the travel experience.

  • Students may NOT carry ANY medication on their person!

  • If you are not sure about the above details or have any questions, please, contact Steve Magadance at (210) 356-0910 or by email at smagad@neisd.net.

Senior families who were unable to attend the final travel meeting can review material covered in the virtual session the slide show linked HERE! Families who need to finalize payments for our seniors’ travel experience to Washington, D.C., may submit online payments through School Cash Online or submit cash/check payments to Mr. Tran. Please contact Mr. Tran at ktran@neisd.net with questions.

Our amazing ISA’s counselors have begun visiting with ISA 9th, 10th, and 11th graders to select their courses for the 2025-2026 school year. Ms. Carraway and Ms. Stridde report lots of excitement and questions about the course selection process. We would like to share that students have a comfortable amount of time to choose their courses. We anticipate families will have questions too! If you have questions about helping your student choose the courses best for them, please contact Romelle Carraway at rcarra2@neisd.net or (210) 356-0940 or Natalie Stridde at nstrid@neisd.net or (210) 356-0925!

We are pleased to share that on Tuesday, January 28th, in cooperation with the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio, ISA will host a visit from the Consul General of Germany during the 2nd and 3rd periods of the day. Sharing a presentation focused on “Taking & Accepting Responsibility”, students will also have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session.

The window for Spring AP enrollment in AP Classroom closes this Friday, January 31st. The payment window for Spring AP courses opens next week on February 4th through March 4th. Payments of $40/$20 for Spring only classes may be made through Skyward. Families may also make late payments of $80/$60 for full year classes in person to Ms. Carraway in the ISA Counseling office.

The ISA Amigos are preparing for their next ISA Teacher Appreciation event! The Amigos will host a luncheon on Monday, February 10th. Employing a “Rodeo” theme--think chili, cornbread, and cobbler, mmmmhhh--the Amigos will be posting a Sign-up Genius in this feed next week and grade-level Facebook groups for families who wish to donate or volunteer at the luncheon!

When our seniors return from Washington in February, we will begin an extremely full, busy, and fun portion of the school year. Don’t blink and be sure to pause to enjoy what is ahead! Below are some dates we would like to share in the months of February and March:

  • Monday, February 17th - ISA Class of 2029 Orientation

  • Thursday, March 6th - Senior Public Policy Presentation Event

  • March 10th - 14th - Spring Break

  • Wednesday, March 19th - ISA Summa Graduate Reception

While this application is intended to select incoming 9th grade students, we will also open our transfer application on the Monday we return from Spring Break!

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
