Community Update for August 7

Dear ISA Families,

This Wednesday, August 10, 2022, will officially open the 2022-2023 academic year! We are excited to see and hear students in the ISA hallways again, and want to share important information about the first days of school with the ISA Community! This week’s update is a bit lengthy, and contains a great deal of information about the beginning of school. Please read the entire message!

Before Wednesday, we recommend students access their class schedule through Skyward: Student Access, and instructions about where to find schedules are linked HERE. On Wednesday, students will report to their 1st period class, and ISA staff will be available to help students locate their 1st period classes. Students will rotate to all of their classes on Wednesday. This campus MAP can also provide assistance.

Additionally, all students who have classes at CTEC or iCSI should report to the PERC during these periods on the first day of school. During these periods students will meet their teachers and learn about daily shuttle transportation.

Schedules:

When students access their schedules, they may have questions. ISA’s counselors, Ms. Carraway and Ms. Brooks, would like students to submit any change requests using THIS Google Form or navigate to this URL: shorturl.at/hqT09. Students should submit their requests by Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Wednesday’s bell schedule will be slightly altered due to first day attendance procedures, but beginning Thursday, August 11, 2022, the campus will follow this year’s new bell schedule. Please note that school runs from 8:50 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. each day with some exceptions one Tuesday each month for teacher professional development.

Pick-up/Drop-off on-campus:

In-district students who will ride shuttle buses to and from their home high school campus can get shuttle bus information HERE. Families providing their own transportation, please drop students off and pick students up in the back parking lot on the east side of campus by the Performing Arts Center (PAC). The campus has very limited space, and this drop off location is the safest option available for students. Please note that active student supervision will begin at 8:00 a.m. when teachers and staff report to campus. Students will have access to the cafeteria courtyard beginning at 7:30 a.m. each day. The cafeteria will begin to serve a free breakfast to all students at 8:00 a.m. Students will be able to access the main building when the first bell rings at 8:40 am to move to their classes. Additionally, please do not drop off students along Jackson Keller. This slows traffic flow and is dangerous for students.

For afternoon campus pick-up, please review and follow these guidelines:

  1. As vehicles enter from Montview, the right lane will be reserved for pickup. As vehicles pick up and exit, please continue to move forward to allow additional vehicles to enter the parking lot.

  2. The left lane will be reserved for through traffic. Please do not idle in the left lane. When you pick up your student, please safely pull into the left lane and carefully proceed to the exit.

  3. If you arrive on campus early, we encourage you to park in any open parking spot near the PAC to wait for your student.

  4. Please do not idle in the lanes where vehicles are parked in front of the PAC. This blocks parked vehicles attempting to exit.

  5. Please continue to drive slowly and watch for pedestrians.

  6. Be patient and courteous as we continue to refine the pick-up procedures, especially in the first weeks of school.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work to provide a safe and orderly pickup/drop-off experience for our students!

On Thursday, ISA’s traditional Opening Ceremony will return in-person during our weekly Advisory/Flex period. We have limited seating available in the LEE auditorium for guests. All interested guests will be required to RSVP HERE so that a visitors badge can be printed. The RSVP form will close at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, and guests who will be admitted with visitor’s badge will be notified by email on Tuesday afternoon. Due to limited space, not all RSVPs will be able to be fulfilled.

Also on Thursday, the ISA Amigos will host the first Amigos board meeting of the year at 6:00 p.m. in the ISA Flex Room (S-103). This meeting will be in-person! Attached to this update is a letter from Amigos President, Tamara Verschoyle, highlighting information about the ISA Amigos' Annual Appeal, Links to parent/guardian Facebook Groups, a return to in-person meetings, and this year’s 9th grade garage sale!

One of the agenda items for the Amigos’ first meeting will be to finalize preparations for Hot Diggity Doo Dah on Saturday, August 13! All families are invited to attend the beginning of school celebration, to meet with ISA team teachers, and to share in community together. More information about Hot Diggity can be found HERE. The Amigos are also looking for volunteers to help support this annual ISA event! If you are interested in helping out click here ⇒Hot Diggity Doo Dah 2022.

We look forward to seeing all of our students in the ISA hallways tomorrow and hope everyone has a great first week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
