Two outstanding Lopez students lead board meeting

Lopez students at board meetingTwo eighth graders from Lopez Middle School represented their school at the December regular meeting of the North East ISD Board of Trustees

They were introduced by their Principal Bob Curry and led trustees, District leadership and guests in the invocation and pledges to U.S. and Texas flags.

Naomi Moon led with the invocation. She is a straight-A student who competes in Academic UIL, debate, dance and athletics. She is a member of the Lopez Orchestra and earned a prestigious spot in the Regional Orchestra. She also holds leadership positions in the Junior National Honor Society, Student Council, Orchestra and UIL.

She was joined at the meeting by her father, Chris Moon.

Her classmate Landon Griffiths led the pledges to the flags.

Landon is a straight-A student. He is a student athlete who participates in football, basketball and track. He is a very well-rounded student who is also a member of Junior PALS program and participates in the choir. He was joined at the meeting by parents, David and Heather Griffiths, and sister Rachel.

Principal Curry concluded, “Both of these students embody the spirit of our school’s mission, to learn, lead, serve and inspire, and I am proud that they are here tonight.”
