Lopez students lead NEISD Board meeting
The North East ISD Board of Trustees met for its regular public board meeting on Monday, Oct. 3. Two outstanding students from Lopez Middle School kicked off the meeting with the invocation and pledge. Graham Hansen gave the invocation and Addison Choi, presented the Pledges of Allegiance.
Graham is a seventh-graders at Lopez. He is enrolled in the Gifted and Talented program and maintained an A average during his 6th grade year. Graham is also involved in the Lopez Choir and currently serves as the choir historian. Outside of school he is involved in musical theatre, plays the piano, enjoys volunteering and creates content using chain reactions on YouTube. Last year, he was honored as a Teen of Impact by the American Heart Association and awarded the Jose M. Lopez Service Award. He was joined by his parents John and Christina Hansen.
Eighth-grader Addison Choi is the captain of the Lopez volleyball A team. She is also an officer for the Lopez chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. She is enrolled in both the Gifted and Talented program and Honors courses. She is also a violinist in Lopez’s level 3 orchestra. Addison and her peers are currently working on a fundraiser to donate money to the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. She also enjoys reading, baking and playing beach volleyball. She was joined by her parents Paul and Yoon Ah Choi.
