Critical Updates for Garner
Dear Garner Community,
As of March 31st, Garner MS will remain closed for an additional two weeks. Effectively, this will close campus operations, including all extra-curricular activities through May 4. However, events are changing fast. For the most reliable and up to date information please go to the NEISD Critical Updates webpage.
Even though schools are closed at this time, we want you to know that we have been preparing an instructional plan to provide distance learning opportunities for your child throughout these school closures. Your child's teachers are working on creating weekly assignments that your child will be able to complete at home or away from school. We will provide two options for continued learning: either through technology and the internet, or through printed hard copies of that work. Our goal is to have this distance learning plan operational by every teacher by Monday, March 23rd.
If your child does not have access to the internet, you may begin picking up school work on Monday, March 23rd from 7:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. You will need to return that week's schoolwork the following Monday during those same hours, and then pick up the next week's assignments. This process will repeat until we resume our regular schooling.
If your child has internet access, he/she will receive these weekly lessons/assignments through an online platform such as Google Classroom, and post those completed assignments via online.
You and your child will continue to have the ability to communicate to your child's teachers through email or any other online technology tool that our teachers will be using to connect with you and your child. You may access teacher emails through Skyward or through the staff directory on the Garner webpage.
During this time of rapid change and uncertainty as a result of this COVID-19 pandemic, know that we will continue to do our best in providing distance learning opportunities for your child. Our mission is still the same - we are committed to academic excellence and college and career readiness while providing opportunities for your child to succeed. Remember, for the most reliable and up to date information please go to the NEISD Critical Updates webpage.
Should you or your child need assistance, we urge you to reach out to his/her teachers and to me. Together, we will continue to accomplish our mission! Take care of yourself, your family and your friends.
