Alumni Spotlight: Reagan's Britton Moore lands spot on Team Adam
Church. That’s where Britton Moore developed his voice and musical talent.
North East ISD. That’s where he developed his competitive spirit and drive to pursue his dreams.
2022 Reagan High School graduate Britton Moore earned a four-chair turn from the celebrity judges when he sang Coldplay’s “Yellow” during his blind audition on the latest season of NBC’s The Voice. John Legend, Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Buble all turned their chairs, hoping Moore would pick them to be his coach. He ultimately chose Maroon 5’s Adam Levine.
“Ultimately, I went with Team Adam because I believe in his ability to give me a great song. I also felt that I relate to Adam musically when it comes to singing. Although it’s Adam’s first season back for a very long time, I know that he had a lot of experience on the show, and I also feel like we are quite similar when it comes to artistry.”
Moore knows a thing or two about how important coaches are. He had some incredible ones during his time at NEISD schools. Britton was a standout athlete in baseball and football here. He played in the Little League World Series in 2016 between his time at Hardy Oak Elementary School and Lopez Middle School. He was named a First Team all-state selection, a San Antonio Coaches Association All-Star and lettered all four years at Reagan. Britton was also part of the Reagan Rattler baseball team that made it to state in 2022. In fact, he was planning to try out for The Voice that year, but couldn’t pass up the chance to compete for a state title. He then played a year of college baseball before hanging up his cleats and picking up a microphone.
With sports in his rearview, Moore uses the power skills he learned during locker room and dugout talks to carry him to the next level in this singing competition.
“I had some incredible, incredible coaches—Coach Pena, who was at Lopez and now coaches at Madison High School. Coach Chapman coached my baseball career in high school. There are too many to name. But my coaches have always supported me through every decision, especially my decision to step away from sports. But they really are the ones who put the discipline and competitiveness and drive in me to get better. And I think that will help me in the show.”
As Britton begins his Voice run, he’s excited about the future of his singing career. He has just released his first single, “Harmony” and is working on more music. Moore has been lucky enough to reach some pretty high peaks with his passions, and his run on The Voice is just his latest achievement. Getting here has taken years of support, discipline and hard work. But Moore says if he can follow his dreams, any NEISD student can, too. You’ve just got to put in the work.
“Find your purpose and pursue it with 100% of your energy. You know, when you focus on what you’re passionate about and you give all of what you have to that, you’re destined to succeed. My sporting career taught me that a lot. So, find your purpose and pursue it with everything that you have.”
Our next chance to catch Britton on The Voice will be during the Battle Rounds. We wish him the best of luck and continued success on the stage!
