North East ISD cleaned up at the recent 2023 Texas State Japanese Language Speech Competition.
A group of exceptional students from Johnson and Churchill high schools traveled to Rice University to compete against the top Japanese language students in Texas. NEISD represented the San Antonio region against the top two winners of the Austin, Dallas and Houston regions.
They showcased their Japanese language proficiency by reciting and presenting original haiku and speeches. The following students placed in the top three in this statewide contest.

1st place: Aidan Sisneros (Johnson, 12thgrade)
3rd place: Narah Monreal (Churchill, 11th grade)
HAIKU DIVISION
2nd Place: Selina Ye (Johnson, 10th grade)
POETRY DIVISION
2nd place: Sarah Adeyemi (Johnson, 9th grade)
3rd place: Jacob Duke (Johnson, 9th grade)
