Johnson senior places in Battle of the Flowers Band Festival Cover Art Contest

Ten North East ISD students placed in the top 30 of the annual Battle of the Flowers Band Festival Cover Art Contest! Hailey Hickerson of Johnson High School placed 3rd overall in the contest. She earned a $250 prize for her design and a $100 grant for the Johnson Art Department.

Hailey’s art features a patriotic-themed bandmember and dancer set against the Alamo, bluebonnets and other Texas scenery. Hailey is also a Drum Major in the Johnson Band and has been a four-year Varsity Band/Wind Ensemble member and a TMEA All-Area Flute player.

More than 200 submissions entered into this year’s contest, which gives San Antonio and surrounding area high school students the chance to design the cover of the Band Festival program.

Congratulations to Hailey and all of our NEISD finalists!
