Lee's Project Fairy Godmother makes memories
Saturday, April 21 marked a special occasion for many students; it was Lee High School’s junior/senior Prom. It also marked the third year of Project Fairy Godmother at Lee High School. Project Fairy Godmother is a collaborative effort among community members that donate formal gowns, formal attire, shoes, and accessories.
“Donations come from all over the Lee community, as well as, from the entire city,” said Nicole Franco, Lee Principal. “Some even as far away as New York.”
School organizations such as Student Council and Glam Club offered contributions to over 30 Project Fairy Godmother recipients. This year, Paul Mitchell the School generously provided six aspiring stylists to create trendy up dos and professional makeup for the recipients.
“Had it not been for Project Fairy Godmother I may not have been able to attend my senior prom,” stated one recipient. “I’m glad my school provides this sort of thing to help make my senior year special.”
Lee Family Specialists, Diana Guajardo and Alicia Walker, created Project Fairy Godmother in order to assist students reduce the cost of this memorable event.
Others that contributed to this year’s event were Communities in Schools, Maria Hoenigman, and North Central Rotary Club.
