Colonial Hills celebrates SA’s College Week

Colonial Hills Elementary School joined in the college week celebration that San Antonio education partners organized this year. The school celebrated with themed dress up days for San Antonio's College Week - Destination College, April 17-20.

On Tuesday, the students dressed in fashion from the 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's. On Wednesday, they dressed for success in their interview attire and Thursday they wore polka dots and stripes because they "Dot their i's and cross their t's."

Colonial Hills students, teachers and staff joined the citywide celebration on Friday by wearing their favorite college T-shirt. In addition, the school’s fifth grade students had the opportunity to visit with Denise Gates, San Antonio College Coordinator for Student Success on April 18. The students were able to ask questions regarding career and education needed to achieve their goals.

Faculty and staff hopes that each year they are able to add more to its college week celebration. This is the second year that Sam Brandt, CIS site Coordinator and Veronica Villegas, Family Specialist are sponsoring the Colonial Hills Elementary School - College Ready Cougars, a club comprised of fifth grade students who work on exploring career, higher education opportunities and strategies to ensure a successful transition to sixth grade. The College Ready Cougars were founded in 2016 by Villegas and the Colonial Hills Watch DOGS volunteers.
