Windcrest Optimist Club celebrates future leaders

The Windcrest Optimist Club held its monthly meeting on March 6 to honor the future leaders of our community as part of its Student of the Month program. The program focuses on students in the Roosevelt High School cluster schools. These students earn this selection by demonstrating characteristics such as: dependability, excelling at reading, positive attitudes, willingness to help others, kindheartedness, and demonstrating responsibility. A school representative introduces the students and their families, in addition to highlighting the student’s achievements.

Educators from each school presented their student providing the reasons for his/her selection and Club President Jeanie Weidenbach presented each with a plaque. Family members and special friends were invited to participate in the ceremony. Roslyn Reyes, Montgomery Elementary School, was unable to attend but was recognized and will receive her award at her campus. Family members and special friends were invited to participate in the ceremony.
