ACE hosts winter graduation ceremony

North East ISD’s nationally-recognized Academy of Creative Education (ACE) hosted its winter graduation ceremony on Thursday, December 14 at the MacArthur Park Church of Christ. Led by Dr. Patrick Valdez, Campus Director, the ACE graduation ceremony is a time of celebration and a testament to ACE students who struggled in a traditional school setting and who have overcome numerous challenges to obtain their high school diploma.

Approximately 75 academy graduates crossed the stage to receive their diploma while excerpts from student testimonials were presented in a readers’ theater format throughout the ceremony. Families, staff, and Advisory Corporate Council members attended, in addition to NEISD administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff.

ACE graduating students Pedro Armendariz and Alexus Glover, served as Masters of Ceremony and Roy D. Terracina, the Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Ventures, Inc. delivered the commencement speech. Terracina has served on the boards of organizations such as U.S. Global Investors, Inc.; Milestone Partners; and Our Lady of the Lake University.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy encouraged the graduates to embrace life-long learning. “Use your education and this diploma as a springboard for bigger and better things in your future and keep your sights on your goals and ambitions,” said Gottardy. “Our aspirations and expectations for your future are great. We are all very proud of you.”

Since its inception in 1991, more than 4,492 students have graduated from ACE.
