NEISD reconnects at annual convocations

With one week to go until the 2021-2022 school year, North East ISD kicked off another exciting year with a series of convocations at each high school. This year’s ceremony was inspired by the Olympic games and featured performances from students across the District.

Convocation is also an opportunity for Dr. Sean Maika, Superintendent of Schools, to share his message for the year with teachers and staff. Dr. Maika was joined by several members of the NEISD Board of Trustees.

Trustee Omar Leos, who represents District 3, shared words of encouragement with teachers at the convocation held at the Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School.

“This year is about reconnecting and relationships,” said Leos. “Our relationships drive everything. They give us purpose and connection. I want to encourage you all to be a champion for all students. You’re more than a teacher – you’re an encourager, mentor and guide.”

Teachers, staff and students will head back to class for the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 16.
