Ridgeview students making community connection

officer hugging studentsSummer school is all about getting caught up and getting ahead. But this summer school session is also about reconnecting and building relationships.

Students in the Pre-K Enrichment Program at Ridgeview Elementary School got to opportunity to make a real connection with a Shavano Park police officer and firefighter.

Police Captain Dennis Kelley and Fire Chief Darrel Dover stopped by for a community education lesson.

One student, who mentioned being afraid of police, told his teacher afterward that meeting Captain Kelley made him feel safer and more comfortable. He even hugged Captain Kelley when it was all over.

Thank you, Captain Kelley and Chief Dover, for all you do for our community and students.

We had a fun event here last week for our Ridgeview PreK Enrichment Program.
