NEISD teacher leads un-bee-lievable summer school lesson

James Bills has quickly become the talk of summer school across North East ISD. The current Northwood Elementary School teacher is an avid beekeeper and is sharing his passion with elementary students learning about honey bees. This month, Bills has made several stops at NEISD elementary campuses, bringing his beekeeper tools to show the kids how the process works up close.

Bills was a big hit with second-grade students at Steubing Ranch Elementary School.

“It was incredible to see how the students tied in everything they learned into discussions with Mr. Bills,” said counselor Kristen Latronico. “These second graders were buzzing with excitement and appreciation. We have many future Beekeepers now!”

Bills also discussed the different types of honey bees: the worker, drone and queen while fielding questions from excited students.
