North East ISD needs to hear from you

Like many districts across Texas, North East ISD has operated with a normal budget in anything but a normal year. The federal government recognized the enormous task facing school districts to recover learning loss from the pandemic and address the mental strain it has had on our families.

Through three different stimulus packages, each of which included the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund, the federal government has provided much-needed financial support to help with education and economic recovery in the state.

Texas lawmakers used the first round of relief funds to replace or supplant state funding for schools. This left many districts without additional money to cover new COVID-19 costs. NEISD will not have access to the second round of funding until after the 2021-2022 school year begins.

Recently, Texas announced funds were available for school districts under the third round of federal funding, known as ESSER lll. NEISD expects to receive approximately $117 million to help address learning loss and transition students back to in-person school, as well as prepare for the next pandemic.

NEISD is developing a plan to use these funds and would like your input to identify student and school needs within the District as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
