Roosevelt student gets state recognition

Roosevelt High School’s Griffin Oliver is getting state recognition for his leadership. He is part of the Lone Star Leadership Academy (LSLA). The LSLA is a group focused on developing students’ leadership skills during the school year. This last year, he coordinated with many neighbors to provide supplies to the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition (SAFCC).  He collected cash donations, food and several other items at a time when the SAFCC needed it most.

“This project was much more difficult than prior projects I’ve done because there were many unexpected events that occurred, like somebody stealing our donation bins,” said Griffin. “I think that challenges like that reinforce my ability to lead; after all, resiliency in the face of change is one of the most valuable leadership skills.”

Griffin is one of only 60 students highlighted for his efforts statewide by Education in Action.

Congratulations, Griffin.
