NEISD artists honored in Austin

Three talented North East ISD student artists were honored in Austin after their art was selected to be displayed at the Governor’s Office. Cecilia Abbott, First Lady of Texas, hosted Pedro Diaz of Johnson High School and Ashton Kordas of Reagan High School on June 7. Their original art was selected to hang in Governor Greg Abbott’s business office from June 2021 to May 2022.

International School of the Americas (ISA) graduate Rachel Kamata also attended the celebration. Her art was selected to hang in the Governor’s Office in 2020 but was unable to attend an in-person celebration at that time because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Art from only 12 students across the state will be on display in 2021 and just 14 were selected in 2020. NEISD is proud to be represented by Diaz, Kordas and Kamata. Congratulations!
