Students “play” together to create memorable performances

Performance art took a big hit during the pandemic. Broadway still isn’t open. But as they say, the show must go on.

MacArthur High School Theatre students figured out a creative way to make sure that happened. They started doing podcasts, bringing back old-time radio shows. They created characters and performances out of their voices. Thanks to a North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) grant, the school purchased quality microphones to help with the production. Middle school students Bradley Middle School, Driscoll Middle School, and Garner Middle School wrote the stories the high school students performed. It was a truly innovative and collaborative way to make sure these students got the chance to perform.

“These performances are a testament to the stamina and artistic integrity of our theatre community amidst the wide-ranging challenges of the pandemic,” said MacArthur Theatre teacher Mahalia Dinglasan.
