Strategy comes first during virtual NEISD robotics contest

When it comes to robotics competitions, strategy means everything. Forty-eight teams from 22 North East ISD elementary and middle school campuses put their strategies to the test during the first-ever virtual VEX IQ Challenge. VEX IQ is a programmable, snap-together robotics system that incorporates the best of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).

During this challenge, students designed, created and coded their own robots to compete in a game-based engineering challenge.

NEISD Instructional Technology pivoted to make this robotics contest a reality on Tuesday, April 27. Rival robotics teams competed against each other via live stream while scorekeepers kept a close watch on the action.

Middle school teams included Bradley, Bush, DATA at Ed White, Eisenhower, Garner, Jackson, Krueger, Nimitz, STEM at Nimitz, and Wood.

Elementary teams included Bulverde Creek, Colonial Hills, Harmony Hills, Huebner, Oak Meadow, Olmos, Redland Oaks, Serna, Steubing Ranch, Tuscany Heights, Vineyard Ranch and Windcrest.
