Portrait of a proud teacher

First-grade teacher Alexandria Simmons is upgrading her classroom art supplies thanks to a clever portrait by Castle Hills Elementary School first-grader Sylvie Brodesky.

Sylvie chose to create a sculpture of Simmons to enter in the teacher edition of the SAY Sí Art Portrait Contest. Her sculpture was selected as a winner, meaning Simmons will receive a $100 H-E-B gift card and a box of art supplies for her classroom.

"We are all so very happy, but we've always been proud of Sylvie and her eagerness to learn," said Simmons. "Her kind heart spreads love and joy through her artwork. I am honored that Sylvie chose me, but I am even more honored that I had the privilege of spending this year with her in my classroom."

Congratulations Sylvie! Take a look at her sculpture below.
