NEISD rapid COVID-19 testing expands to asymptomatic students and employees
Free COVID-19 rapid tests are now available to symptomatic and asymptomatic North East ISD students and employees. NEISD teachers, staff and students can receive a rapid test if they are experiencing symptoms, have traveled, play sports or participate in extracurricular activities, had close contact with someone experiencing symptoms, or even if you just want to test for peace of mind.
Necessary paperwork can be obtained from the school nurse prior to testing. Each person being tested will need a completed consent form and a QR code received after registering for the test online at https://register.txrapidtest.org/. No appointment is needed. NEISD employees who are experiencing symptoms or who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 need to complete the COVID-19 Employee Reporting Form on the NEISD website.
COVID-19 rapid tests are available at Piper Bass Memorial Student Center at 12002 Jones Maltsberger Road on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tests are administered using a nasal swab at the front area of the nostrils and have a 97-98% accuracy rate for symptomatic individuals. Results are provided in 15 minutes and each test is administered by trained NEISD test administrators. Participants are able to remain in their vehicles during the rapid testing process.
If someone is experiencing symptoms at home and would like to be tested, please do NOT go to school. Instead, call the school nurse who will be able to email the necessary paperwork to you.
If you have questions about the rapid testing process contact your school nurse or NEISD Health Services at 210-356-9244.
