Original works of modern art are popping up across the ceiling of Longs Creek Elementary School. When students, staff and teachers walk the halls and enter classrooms, they’re looking up at vibrant ceiling tiles with designs, portraits and heartfelt messages. The new additions are part of a fundraiser for new water bottle filling stations on campus.
The “Paint a Ceiling Tile and Leave Your Mark” fundraiser allowed parents, staff, students and community members to donate differing dollar amounts in exchange for a ceiling tile to paint with water-based, acrylic paint. The donate or paint event was a huge hit at Longs Creek and resulted in nearly $1,800, which is enough to purchase three water bottle filling stations.
The colorful creations going up on campus are a testament to the ingenuity at Longs Creek, where there’s no shortage of crafty new ideas benefitting a good cause. If you would like to donate or paint a ceiling tile of your own, contact the Longs Creek front office at 210-407-4800.
