NEISD awarded nearly $50,000 through rebate program

CPS manager holding NEISD's large check For several years, North East ISD has participated in the CPS Energy Response Program. This is a voluntary program that pays incentives to commercial and industrial customers for reducing electricity use during peak times on high demand days.

The program helps CPS Energy supply enough energy to meet its customers’ needs while providing a financial benefit to program participants.

This past year, NEISD took part in the program from May through September 2020. In that time, the District saved an average of 714 kilowatts.

For that savings, Robert Olivares, Key Account Manager for CPS Energy, presented a rebate check to the District for $49,975.50.

“I’m sure we can all agree that this year has been a crazy year,” said Olivares. “Which is why it’s even more of an accomplishment that your team achieved 82 percent of their goal resulting in this check of just under $50,000.”

The rebate will benefit programs across the District.

“This money comes back into the general fund and it is used for offsetting different programs like LED replacements and upgrades throughout the District, so it goes directly back into the schools,” said Barry Lanford, Executive Director, Facility Maintenance and Operations.
