#NEISDcares | Nimitz choir students sing praises of healthcare professionals

“I think it is important for students to give back to their community and to recognize others’ hardships,” said Nimitz Middle School Choir Director Jennifer Perelstein. “And in this case, people who they felt were doing something valiant on their behalf.”

That is why, Nimitz choir students put together and donated self-care boxes to local healthcare professionals last month.

The boxes included bath bombs, herbal tea, chocolate and a thank you note.

This project was their idea,” said Perelstein. “Parents drove them around on the weekends and after school to get them delivered.”

Two dozen boxes were delivered to school nurses and health care professionals related to the Nimitz faculty or family, including Dr. Veronica Betancur. She attended Nimitz when she was in middle school.
