Senior Spotlight: Passion for soccer and science collide at LEE

Kameron Kloza can’t imagine life without soccer. She’s been driven by her steadfast love of the game for as long as she can remember. Playing college soccer has always been the ultimate goal for Kameron, even during her days at Bulverde Creek Elementary School, Tejeda Middle School and the STEM Academy at LEE High School.

Kameron hit the field with natural talent and solid fundamentals, but LEE soccer coach Erik Stolhandske helped her elevate her game.

“I came to LEE with strong fundamentals from my club team and he has added more to that and made me an even better player,” said Kloza. “He always pushes me to be my best. He has instilled a strong work ethic and I know he is my number one fan.”

Kameron committed to play soccer at Texas Tech University with her parents, LEE Athletic Coordinator Daniel Kloza and Tejeda Dance Teacher Desiree Kloza, by her side. Two things drew Kameron to the STEM Academy initially. She wanted to play soccer with her older sister and acquire a solid foundation in science. Like so many of her goals, Kameron achieved both.

“In the future, I hope to become a physical therapist for athletes and I felt that pursuing the science pathway at the STEM Academy would give me a head start toward my goal,” said Kloza. “It’s hard to pick just one STEM teacher because all of them have had a tremendous impact on me. STEM has offered me a huge variety of science classes that I would not have been able to take at a regular high school.”

As Kameron prepares to suit up for her senior season at LEE, she’s looking forward to more time on the field at Texas Tech. But she’ll never forget where she started.

“One of my proudest moments was when we won our first playoff game in over 20 years,” said Kloza. “I also will never forget the feeling of how proud I was when I was named Newcomer of the Year my freshman year. I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to represent LEE High School and the STEM Academy.”
