NEISD family specialists "shout out" positivity

Zoom screens of family specialists holding up signs Sometimes we all need a positive word, encouragement or inspirational thought to get us going. That was exactly the thinking of North East ISD family specialists when they held their monthly staff development meeting recently.

A lot of important work happens during these meetings, including reviewing social services, creating strategies to best support NEISD families, building on Social Emotional Learning initiatives and more.

But first, they wanted to start off on the right foot.

Family specialists spread words of positivity and affirmation, holding up signs and sharing words of encouragement during their meeting this past Friday. Specialists were smiling from ear to ear as colleagues shared these shout outs over Zoom.

“Our families are experiencing a variety of home issues at higher levels due to the pandemic,” said Elizabeth De La Rosa, a Family Specialist working both at Wilshire and Oak Grove elementary schools.  “I love my job and starting my morning with so much positivity around me today is all I need to keep going. We are an amazing team, and I am proud to be a part of it!”

Family specialists provide support to families and students in the District. The job is extremely rewarding as they provide resources and assistance for families, as well as Family Engagement classes for parents, family members and community members.

If your family is experiencing a difficult home situation and you are unsure of whom to contact for assistance, please reach out to your nearest family specialist. They are available at 57 NEISD campuses and are ready to help.
