PTA challenge inspires Bradley students to spread kindness

Right now, many of us are just trying to keep our heads above water. Parents are working from home or the office. Students are adapting to a whole new way of learning. And everyone is trying to stay safe in the process.  The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Bradley Middle School would like to add one more thing to your plate. The good news is it is free, doesn’t take much time and will make you feel good. It’s called the Kindness Challenge.

“Right now, this is something that every kid can do at school, at home, in extracurriculars and their neighborhood,” said Bradley PTA President, Lisa Thompson. “Like all behaviors, kindness is a habit and practicing it over and over makes it something you automatically do!”

Social Emotional Learning has always been a big push for North East ISD. The COVID-19 pandemic made that even more important. So, PTA’s across the District have been working on ways to make our students feel better and help others.

“With all the things going on in our world right now, I want kids to know that that’s not the way we have to operate,” said Thompson. “I am looking forward to hearing from students who complete the challenge. I want to know what they learn about themselves and others throughout the process.”

The kindness challenge offers several different levels of challenges. Earn one point for writing a kind note to someone. Get two points for leaving a generous tip to a server and doing other small things that can make a big impact.

“Kindness! It’s as simple as that,” explained Thompson. “Words and actions matter. I want people to say, ‘I wonder what got into that kid, he or she was so nice!’”
