NEISD cadets embrace new style of practice

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) students at Roosevelt High School are embracing new virtual and in-person extracurricular activities. Battalion leaders are working within North East ISD health and safety guidelines to ensure cadets are safe while practicing in person. Cadet Captain Giselle Castellanos is happy to be back on the drill pad with the Riderettes Drill Team.

"We've been doing double spacing instead of single-arm length and teaching movements six feet apart at all times," said Castellanos. "Every Riderette is required to wear a mask. My outlook for the team this year is to set up the girls for a successful drill season while going over obstacles. I think we'll have a successful year from what I can see so far."

Campus CyberPatriot teams are also training virtually for upcoming online competitions. Roosevelt's CyberPatriot teams are made up of Engineering & Technology Academy (ETA), Design and Technology Academy (DATA) and Roosevelt JROTC students. They consistently rank among the best in the nation and claimed the national title in May
