LEE students officially begin school year by picking up laptops

Lee Tech pickup

The virtual start to the school year is still about two weeks away, but teachers and staff at Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School were on hand and working hard Monday morning making sure their students were ready.

A line of cars wrapped around the LEE campus as staff smiled through masks to get their students connected with the laptops they will need to begin classes virtually on August 17.

Tina Hampton has two children who attend LEE. She was one of the first cars in line to pick up laptops for her kids to use for virtual learning.

“Some people can’t afford their own supplies, so I think it’s good they are suppling these for their students,” said Hampton.

Ezekiel Kuikendall will be a tenth-grader this year at LEE. He remembers learning virtually at the end of last year. While he would much rather be back in the classroom, having a District-issued laptop helps.

“I am glad they can give us a computer to borrow. It’s one less thing to worry about.”

The District has been working since March to acquire enough laptops and supplies to help any student who needs one. This week, schools across the District will be setting up tech drive-thrus to hand out thousands of laptops and hotspots to students who need them.

If you have a question about technology and tech pick-ups for your student, please contact your student’s campus.
