Data Palooza: NEISD staff hone their virtual skills

Learning how to incorporate and decipher information in a virtual world takes time and practice. North East ISD teachers and staff have an abundance of online tools to track student progress in the classroom. Data Palooza is a one-stop-shop for educators looking to hone their skills. This year, the fourth annual event went virtual and the adjustment allowed presenters to consider the tools and information teachers will need in the months ahead.

“We hope our presenters can demonstrate how they use data for their students and teachers,” said Brande Merriman, Performance and Planning Director. “They’ll also see how they have adapted their training for this virtual event.”

Participants logged on to take part in a wide variety of classes on Wednesday, July 22. Data Palooza sessions included Skyward workshops, courses on integrating data into apps like Seesaw and more. As teachers and staff prepare to begin the 2020-2021 school year online, refresher sessions couldn’t come at a better time."

“It is more important than ever for teachers and leaders to find other ways to assess student understanding and monitor progress,” said Merriman. “We hope participants can find at least one way they can use available data sources to make actional decisions for their students.”
