NEISD teachers prepare for blended learning scenarios

As the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close, North East ISD is focused on empowering and preparing its teachers for what may lie ahead. This week, more than 4,000 NEISD teachers will take part in 120 virtual training sessions covering best practices while teaching in a virtual environment. The District’s Department of Instructional Technology is leading the initiative, which is aimed at providing teachers with a structure that will ensure students are engaged, connected, and empowered wherever they are.

"The social and emotional needs of our students are so important,” said Christi Ramsey, NEISD Director of Instructional Technology. “Ensuring our kids are doing okay is a top priority at North East ISD, so we're making sure every teacher in the District is equipped with the knowledge and tools to do just that."

All NEISD teachers will learn more about topics like online resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) support, conducting online classes and offering ways to assess students to ensure learning is taking place. Instructional Technology has offered more than 200 online training and learning opportunities for teachers since distance learning began in March.

Ramsey says the District’s commitment to helping teachers navigate this new approach will continue to adapt.

"We are excited to support teachers in moving distance learning to the next level,” said Ramsey. “Getting a top-notch education isn't about a building or classroom. It's about real learning and engagement.”
