Tuscany Heights stays connected

As soon as Tuscany Heights Elementary School principal Tara Bailey learned that her school was closing its doors because of the coronavirus, she started looking for a way to keep her staff and students connected. Morning announcements are part of everyone’s daily routine. That inspired Bailey and several other Tuscany Heights team members to figure out a way to produce, edit and share them from home.

“They were so quick to jump on the idea and bring this to life,” said Bailey. “They spend endless hours splicing all these videos together and making our families feel a sense of continued relationships and connections with us.”

Jean Ann Johnson, Emily Lunsford, Kayla Fonger, Kerri Rivera and Rachel Kaufman are just a few of the educators who help Bailey bring the announcements to life every day. They do it all while hosting daily Zoom lessons, teaching online lessons and taking care of their own families.

The morning announcements have now expanded to include students giving the weather forecast, the Pledge of Allegiance and birthday shout outs from home.

“It started with our staff and now we are incorporating students with their parent’s permission,” said Bailey. “We are doing our best to keep spirits high!”
