NEISD extends campus closures through April 24

Dear NEISD Community,
These past two weeks have been a challenge for us all, and I appreciate your patience as we navigate these unusual times. Monday, Mayor Ron Nirenberg expanded his emergency order for the city of San Antonio, to include a ‘stay at home’ order. Therefore, North East ISD schools will remain closed through April 24. We are holding out hope that we may return this school year, but as we continue to see with COVID-19, things are constantly changing. Our new normal is that things move quickly, and we must all adjust to changing circumstances. Current information from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) indicates that the days we remain out of school will not have to be made up so long as a continuity of education remains in place.
Our curriculum team, teachers and campus administrators will continue to work with students on distance learning to include the pickup of materials at school sites. We remain dedicated to educating children, regardless of the circumstances. Our teachers have worked hard to adapt to this new way of teaching, and I know you all have had to adjust as well. We will also continue to serve our curbside meals for families in need, and student counseling services will still be offered by phone and computer.
We are in unfamiliar territory and recognize this is challenging for everyone involved. Please know, NEISD is here for you. At this time, all calendar events in May and June, including graduations, are still scheduled. It’s too early to determine whether those ceremonies will need to be modified. We will let you know if that changes.

Nuestros maestros han trabajado duro para adaptarse a esta nueva forma de enseñanza, y sé que todos ustedes también han tenido que adaptarse. Así mismo continuaremos sirviendo nuestras comidas para llevar a las familias necesitadas, y los servicios de consejería estudiantil seguirán ofreciéndose por teléfono y computadora. Estamos en un territorio desconocido y reconocemos que esto es un reto para todos los que estamos involucrados. Por favor, sepa, que el NEISD está aquí para usted. En este momento, todos los eventos del calendario en mayo y junio, incluidas las graduaciones, todavía están programados.
