Deep clean is part of the routine at NEISD campuses

“A lot of times, our custodians are the unsung heroes.”

North East ISD’s dedicated custodial team is the first line of defense when it comes to protecting students, visitors and employees from germs. While schools are currently closed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), custodial staff are working diligently to sanitize every inch of the school so students and teachers have a safe, disinfected area to learn and work in when they return.

Larry Fowler, NEISD Director of Operations, says the extended break has been used to emphasize disinfectant measures on every campus and facility.

“We are putting all of our efforts into making sure when students and staff do return they are returning to a completely disinfected area,” said Fowler. “We all have the same concern about making sure that our students and staff are protected as much as you possibly can do. We’ll continue those processes, even when the students do come back.”

Every surface and every inch are being sanitized and then re-sanitized, from keyboards to doorknobs, sanitizing stations, and everything in between.

“Our custodial staff is on the front line and they are who we rely on to carry out these tasks,” said Fowler. “They know they are playing a positive role in the education system and they take their job very seriously.”

Deep cleaning has always been part of the routine at NEISD, and the committed custodial team will continue to focus on maintaining a clean, safe space for students to learn.
