Japanese exchange students experience life at LEE

The International School of the Americas (ISA) offers a unique option for students interested in experiencing different cultures. In addition to our students visiting other countries, the school often hosts students from around the world, giving them the opportunity to experience the life of an American teen. During a recent their stay, students from Takayama, Japan stopped by the JROTC facility at LEEto meet with cadets and test their skills on the air rifle range.

“Despite the language barrier, we were able to effectively communicate and learn from one another,” said cadet Harrison Doyle. “Once the safety rules of the air rifle range were explained, the Japanese students became less apprehensive to engage their targets.”

The visit was arranged by ISA internship coordinator Beth Kholmetz and instructional Dean Luke Freeman. The exchange program allows North East ISD students the opportunity to host and visit students in multiple countries across the globe.
