MacArthur takes NEISD beyond our borders

In their continued effort to curb educational and social inequity, MacTEACH students from MacArthur High School, led by MacArthur alumnus Adriana Espinoza, provided hundreds of pounds of clothing, educational materials and art supplies to the impoverished children of Las Sandias, Honduras. The Honduras Project is in its fifth year and this year it took on an artistic twist. Espinoza went to Honduras and introduced the children to the world of art.  Espinoza will soon graduate from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Finance. But her experiences with this project are pulling her in a different direction. She’s accepted a position with Teach for America for she can continue to give the children of Honduras a quality education.

"While I certainly appreciate the significant contributions my current and ex-MacTEACH students make to this community and communities abroad, it is especially exciting when others beyond NEISD realize the unique level of commitment to service MacTEACH students embrace," said Steve Davidson, MacArthur English teacher and MacTEACH founder. “The fact that organizations like Teach for America and Teach for All recognize how truly necessary a project like the Honduras Project is says a great deal."
