NEISD takes the lead in nurturing home and school connections

Building and nurturing connections between a parent and their child’s home campus is a top priority for the family specialists at North East ISD. Now, their hard work and dedication have earned the District’s Family Engagement team a state recognition. NEISD is one of six districts across the state to receive the 2019 Parent and Family Engagement Promising Practice Award from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Family Specialists Analisa Barrera of Regency Place Elementary School, Ruby Morris of Wood Middle School and Lillian Esparza of Olmos Elementary School earned this prestigious recognition for increasing parent and family engagement on their campuses.

“We all work so hard to promote family engagement and to make sure our families know that we care about them and their kids and their futures and their goals,” said Barrera. “The relationships that are built between the parents and the school is a connection that we get to be a part of and help create. That’s what keeps me coming back every day after 18 years.”
