The holidays often inspire a season of giving and one San Antonio company is impacting North East ISD students with a very generous donation. Waterman Construction has been working on several projects across the District. The working relationship with NEISD and time spent on our campuses inspired them to donate $5,340.51 – the exact amount needed to pay off the negative cafeteria balances from all our elementary schools.
“We were fortunate to partner with NEISD on several construction projects over the last few months. When we were on one of the elementary campuses this past summer, I noticed signage for the summer meal program. This struck a chord, as two of our four children are elementary age. The thought of children concerned with the source of their next meal in this country is compelling, both as a parent and citizen. Part of our measure of success is our capacity to give. When we realized we were able to do something this year, my wife and I decided this was an effort we wanted to support. After a discussion with the NEISD School Nutrition Services department, we felt this contribution would go straight to a need with immediate and maximal impact to NEISD students.
The hope is that good nutrition will support students in the realization of their full potential. Plus, everyone likes lunch! It was our great honor and pleasure to do our small part to lift this burden from children in your schools. We are thankful for the wonderful experience of working with NEISD. NEISD pays the negative cafeteria balances at elementary, middle and high schools at the end of the school year with money from the District’s general fund. Generous donations from companies or individuals can make a huge impact on our students and minimize expenses for the District.
