ETA rocketry students receive feedback from NASA

Rocketry students at the Engineering & Technologies Academy (ETA) at Roosevelt High School took advantage of an opportunity to speak to experts in their field during a video conference call with NASA. Members of ETA's Student Launch Team are currently designing a rocket of their own. During the video call, students presented their designs for feedback from NASA's specialists.

ETA students are in the process of constructing a scale model of the rocket in preparation for a conference in January. Launch Team members are planning to attach a GoPro camera to take aerial photographs during the rocket's flight. The photos will be analyzed to determine whether or not this method of collecting data is a viable alternative to taking photos using drones and small planes. The images have a wide variety of applications, such as detecting changes in the terrain or performing search and rescue missions.

In April, ETA students will travel to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, to compete with middle and high school students from around the nation.
