MacArthur students win at S2S jamboree

The Military Child Education Coalition’s Student 2 Student (S2S) Program brings military and civilian students together to welcome new students on campus, create a positive environment, support academic excellence and ease transitions.

The MacArthur High School S2S members participated in the Student 2 Student Leadership Jamboree where attendees from school districts in the San Antonio area gathered to discuss personal leadership and values. As a competitive activity, each school’s attendees were given the challenge to build a structure from select materials that represent the core values of the Student 2 Student Program.

Those values include leadership, academics, service, finding the way and relationships. Once the structure was assembled, the S2S members were given the task to create a video to demonstrate how their structure reinforced the Student 2 Student Program’s core values. MacArthur’s S2S members won the competition.

“We are so proud of our NEISD high schools and middle schools,” said Audrey Garcia, Assistant Director of Learning Support Services. “We are the only large school district in the state of Texas to have all of our high schools and middle schools implementing the Student 2 Student and Junior Student 2 Student Program. We appreciate our campus principals for helping support such a wonderful program. “

The students were awarded two $100 gift cards that they can utilize to help further develop the program on campus. Congratulations MacArthur for bringing recognition to North East ISD for this nationally recognized program.
