Rough Rider JROTC Patriot Day Ceremony

The stormy weather didn't stop the Rough Rider Battalion from holding their annual Patriot Day ceremony. Roosevelt High School staff and students came together to honor the brave men, women, and children who lost their lives eighteen years ago on Sept. 11.

"Despite the rain, I felt like we executed the ceremony as perfect as it could have been," said Cadet Nolan Bodmann. "We handled the situation well, especially all of the cadets because they all stood outside and persevered through the weather. I am proud to lead a Battalion like this that is prepared for and willing to face the unknown."

The ceremony included a dedicated speech detailing the morning of the attacks, a moment of silence, the playing of taps by bugler Levi Perez, and a wreath dedication by Principal Bryan Norwood, Assistant Principal Lori Murach and Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Katya Rodriguez.
