Jackson MS celebrates new building with ribbon cutting

Jackson Middle School celebrated the opening of its new classroom building on Friday, August 9. An official ribbon cutting was held inside the beautiful two-story building which holds a total of 28 new classrooms. Thanks to the 2015 North East ISD bond program, funding was allocated to build the new modernized facilities for the campus.

“I am excited about the new construction on our campus and I look forward to the opportunities we will provide for our students and staff,” said Erin Deason, Jackson Middle School Principal.

The new building holds two community learning centers, which will have student computers; four conference rooms; two teacher workrooms; two resource rooms and plenty of extra storage. Part of the bond package also helped build the school’s new athletic facility which includes a football field, track, scoreboard, tennis courts, basketball courts, a storage facility with restrooms and extra parking.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sean Maika and NEISD Board of Trustees President Shannon Grona assisted in the ribbon cutting.

“I would like to say thank you to the parents,” said Maika. “Thank you for voting yes in the 2015 bond which made this project possible. Without you this could not have been done.”
