Johnson cadets set their sights on Western Regional Championship

Precision and Sporter air rifle teams from Johnson High School set their sights on the National Three-Position Junior Olympic Air Rifle Championship this summer. Eight Jaguar JROTC cadets were invited to compete against some of the nation's best marksmen at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Port Clinton, Ohio July 14-15.

The cadets spent hours preparing for the national contest and made time to train diligently during the school year and over the summer. The Johnson Sporter team received an overall team ranking of 30th on the first day and 18th on the second day of competition. The Jaguar Precision team earned an overall team ranking of 46th on the first day and 38th on the second day.

“I wish we had all shot the way we usually do during our training but I believe we all did the best we could under the pressure and next year we will do better,” said cadet Isabella La Haye.

Sporter Team: Paul Mankewitz, Jacob Saldana, Ian Zinsmeister, and Samantha Lippolis.

Precision Team: Kristen Crawford, Isabella La Haye, Bradley Knight, and Isabella Rios.
