NEISD honors Transportation employees doing double duty
The North East ISD Transportation Department transports more than 25,000 students and operates 450 buses each school day.
Because of a bus driver shortage across the entire area and multiple school districts, current NEISD Transportation employees with other jobs, take it upon themselves to drive routes that are short drivers. All trained and licensed, these men and women do this all school year, while also taking care of their other responsibilities.
On Wed, July 10, a special reception was held to recognize these employees for going above and beyond for our District and students.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Sean Maika and Board President Shannon Grona kicked off the event with words of acknowledgement and gratitude for the important contribution they make.
