UIW hosts Healthcare Professionals Camp for NEISD students

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is helping provide opportunities to North East ISD students interested in the healthcare field. UIW hosted a Healthcare Professionals Camp that gave NEISD students the chance to learn about careers in healthcare fields like nursing, physical therapy, optometry, pharmacy, and general medicine, through classes, guest speakers, and activities.

A total of 25 NEISD students spent their day networking while meeting and interacting with industry professionals. The hands-on lab environment allowed them to learn about different professions from current UIW professors and students. The camp also gave NEISD students the chance to practice public speaking and participate in activities that teach critical thinking skills.

This program is made possible through a partnership with NEISD’s Career & Technical Education Department and the University of the Incarnate Word.
