A surprise donation has made the road to college a little easier for LEE High School graduate Pearl Mendez. She was presented with a $4,000 scholarship check from San Antonio’s North Central Rotary Club.
"We were so very touched by Pearl's journey as described on her scholarship application,” said Craig Hardy, North Central Rotary Club Treasurer. “We were convinced we had to honor her.”
Mendez’s stepmother, Roseann Ramirez, counselor Milena Pedraza-Fernandez, principal Nicole Franco, and other LEE staff gathered to celebrate with her during the check presentation. She received her diploma on Sunday, June 9, at Freeman Coliseum. Congratulations and good luck at Texas State University this fall Pearl!
